Denmark

Finland

  • Finland -national dressFinland was once part of the great Swedish Empire until lost to a Russian invasion in the early 19th Century. 
  • The close ties with Sweden still remain today and for thousands of Finnish people Swedish is their first language. 
  • Finland is famous for the quality of the national health system and for it share of the world’s high-technology manufacturing sector. 
  • Finnish military successes against invaders with much stronger forces are legendary, and the exploits of brave patriots against the Russians early in the 20th Century and against the power of Nazi Germany forces in WW2 illustrate this. 
  • Along with Sweden, Finland has produced a disproportionate number, per head of population, of world class sportsmen especially in such diverse sports as motor-racing (Formula One and World Rally) and middle distance running.

Italy

Argentina

  • ArgentinaArgentina has been largely settled by people from Europe and is considered an “Immigrant Nation” like USA, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.

  • Agriculture and the discovery of oil in the southern plateau brought Argentina into the top ten wealthiest countries of the world. 
  • Argentina has a vibrant festival calendar, building on its Spanish origins and Roman Catholic traditions brought from Europe and modified over the years. 
  • Returning exchangees share how exciting life is for young people in Argentina.
  • Argentina is the largest Spanish speaking nation in the world, but not the most populous.
